This is the part of the year where i wish my days would be >24hours a day

And hoping that every day speeds past at a slower rate

My colleagues say my exams are still far

But they dont know that my prelims are in 16 days.

I hope not to work every morning and switch it to 2.5 days a week instead

The awesomeness of having a flexi job is having the ability to discuss shit and make it a win-win situation for everybody

I reached my first lowest point yesterday

So im going to take a break today after work

and find some kickass food, hopefully pasta, over the weekend

A couple of weeks back, Monogramme had a gig at Esplanade’s Waterfront and i managed to catch some shots! (:

They’re a band that formed when they were in Catholic Junior College, after some members left and some better ones entered, the current line up consist of Ming Xuan (drums), Keith (guitar), Jon (guitar), Jerome (bass), Gareth (Vocals). But in this gig, Titus was still on the bass.

They cover soulful songs like John Mayer and groovy stuff like Sunday Morning (Maroon 5) and they do it well i feel! (:

They’re having another gig, called Supermassive, at Home Club this saturday (12th Feb) and hopefully i can get better pictures then!

quite impressed at myself for getting a shot like this. i cycled to the front of the group on purpose n held my arm up with my camera and just snap. lol.

Due to the strong breeze, it’s always shoot first, run run run run run run, jump & catch. why the running? cos the wind always moved the toy further away before it lands. good exercise i tell you to play this thing. next day my neck ache like shit la cos you always have to look up to see in which direction you have to start running to. good training for neck muscles LOL

Then some smart alec decided to catapult so near the coconut tree so when the wind blew, it landed right at the top on the leaves and didnt wanna drop down. cant believe my cousin tried shaking the tree to make it drop. and he’s like the adult in the group la. xia suey a bit hahahahahaha we lost a good toy down there /playsTributeMusic

Received this sms from Redcross (for the first time) yesterday that they’re running low on my kind of blood!
But i can’t donate it before CNY because i was ill in the past week so they will not let me donate it even if im there

i thought it was funny though! the way the whole sms was structured. it’s like desperate first, need blood. then later pressure pressure pressure, come down on tues or wed (so urgent lei must be!) then later happy happy wishes, wishing me GXFC. aint that like how the working world is like, first you are told nicely, then fucked up your arse, then say nice things to make you happier a bit. LOL

So if you’re O+ and if you happen to need a break from all the CNY shopping, just drop by HSA (outram) and donate some blood!

Knowing how messy my desk is, i decided to purchase a clean-up box from Okibox

This is how it looks like when it’s all fixed up (taken from Gmarket)

I placed an order for this with another item like this pouch so i can place all my items in this little container neatly on my table!

So after a couple of days of ordering my items, they came in a huge envelope cos this clean-up box cannot be folded. but it came in a slight bent shape

Following the instructions to bend the board at appropriate places, it felt like art lessons in primary school all over again! hahahaa!

Tada! I think the prints are really pretty and im a fan of the colour green so i like this!

I remember getting this at not more than SGD 5 bucks. but now it’s slightly higher around SGD 7. :/

this is really useful! The first thing i did when i reached home was to give both packs to my mom cos she fell earlier today and i promised to give her a rub on her sore area once i reached home tonight. It’s like God-sent man these salon pas-es.

ok. this is what happened at G+

Because Sinema @ Old School was so kind to let Nuffnang use the theatre for today’s G+, they get to play a couple of the trailers of the upcoming shows that are gonna be played in Sinema. Sinema’s a place where low-budget local films get played. I found the films pretty interesting after watching ‘em trailers! So i can put those 2 free tickets to good use. Now to think of who i wanna jio to watch with me.. hmmm.

then, it was ice-breaking games time!

We were suppose to form a group of 5 and were made to do 5 tasks. We had to take a polaroid shot for each task to show that we’ve completed it and all the members of the 1st 3 teams who completed all 5 tasks wins a Starbucks giftcard worth $10 each!

My team didnt win, but at least we completed all 5 before the time was up! (:

To get to know each other better, we did a self-intro among ourselves (i dont know if other teams did that) and it was a different experience because usually if you meet people your age (younger people especially) usually they will ask stuff like

“how old are you? where are you studying now? which scool?”

as the first few questions. But the first few things we asked each other was

“what do you blog about? how long have you been blogging? what’s your URL?”

it’s as if Facebook doesnt exist at all! hahahahaha.

Then we were introduced to G+ and what it’s all about

G+ is a group consisting of active bloggers (is it me or does the word LOYAL appear a lot of times in the entire presentation? LOL) that plan group outings, attend product and movie launches and, of course, blog about it. To join this community is like opening your doors to having a better social life, that sorta thing. haha. If you’re interested to join, just go to the G+ site and sign up!

According to the Nuffnang site,

• Glitterati Plus is a club exclusively for Glitterati Nuffnangers who are active in attending events and participating in contests.
• Glitterati Plus members are offered more opportunities to attend events (e.g. press screenings, media launches etc) & have allocated passes to Nuffnang events

After the introduction, it was time for the general elections election of the president and vice president of G+

All 5 of them came up to the stage and gave a short introduction. Lucky bossming told them to give an election speech or not it’s like “huh? who are these people? how do we vote?” kinda thing. If i didnt misplace my voting form, i would have voted Shanice as president purely because she will organize outings at different food places cos she’s a foodie like me! and Hong Peng as vice cos i want to see him make the Malaysia trip, that he said he will do during his election speech, happen. HAHA. But it turned out Hong Peng being voted as president and Shanice as vice! haha

then it’s time for refreshments! i overslept and didnt have the time to grab a bite before heading down today so i was s t a r v i n g. What a spread Nuffnang has prepared for us! So yummy!

In the programme sheet, this next segment was called “Special Appearance” by a couple of supposedly more famous bloggers. These bloggers will talk about their blogs, what they blog about, how many hits they have on their sites and gives us blog-related advice.

Prior to G+, i never knew these people existed. ok except for bongqiuqiu la heard about her before (because of her plastic surgery stint from ClickNetworkTV)

so i wonder how typicalben ‘got’ famous. I’m pretty anal about people speaking and typing in proper english (at least not that many typing errors la pls) so after browsing his blog im like um… ok.

bongqiuqiu is quite pretty lei. and she hosts Budget Barbie on ClicknetworkTV.

Last but not the least, we had a guest speaker, Dr Leslie Tay! He’s the writer behind the food blog that i frequent ieatishootipost and i was so excited when i saw that he’ll be giving us a speech on the programme sheet! Everyone present will agree that Dr Leslie gave a kickass speech which inspired all of us, at least for me it did. He talked about his new book

that Singaporeans will not be able to eat cheap and bloody-shiok char kway teow anymore in 20 years’ time because all those who make them well are so old now that they wont live to make us anymore of this oily goodness then.

It didnt occur to me till he said it!

I guess everyone of us are gonna go get ourselves some good char kway teow once CNY is over! or at least i will.

Dr Leslie is an extremely energetic speaker. Why i say so?

i had such a h a r d time trying to get a clear shot of him cos he’s always moving, jumping, waving around and stuff and he always have something funny to say!

ah ok, i think i have a clear shot of him, but not the best expression that he had. haha

Dr Leslie said one thing that impacted me most: What do i want this blog to be about.

I’ve never really thought of this before but i guess it’s just gonna be about my experiences in life but mainly into these 4 categories:

Food. Travel. Iphone. Others.

Food – im a foodie at heart and i love to explore new food places!

Travel – there’s so much out of Singapore that i wanna share!

Iphone – they dont call me jailbreak queen for nothing? (:

Others – everything else that is not in the above will be others i guess. haha

also, Dr Leslie had 5 books to give away today.

He gave his 1st book to a girl who is a pure teochew. As in maternal & paternal grandparents are teochew that kind!

LOL SERIOUSLY. The best part is when he gave her the book he said “KEEP THE BLOOD PURE!!” AHAHAH shitass funny!

And how he gave away the rest of the books were by quizzing us on the history of our local food! confirm no chance to win already lor LOL Macham we were attending some History of Singaporean Food class sia! LOL

So now i know why Katong Laksa uses spoon-only because the originator was an illegal hawker (forgot the name. fail) and he wanted to make it less troublesome when he escapes from the police in the olden days, so he did away with chopsticks so there’s one less thing to keep in mind! hahahahaha. who knew man.

Dr Leslie is someone who believes in giving back, to help the less fortunate people. Besides going down to Sabah with a couple of his friends to build schools for the poor, he also sold Goducate 2000 copies of his book at cost price so that all profits will go to Goducate! So if you want to get a copy of his book you can get it over at Goducate! (: If i dont win a copy of his book, i will prolly get myself a copy from Goducate, since it’s 3bucks cheaper than getting it from Borders anyway (according to Dr Leslie himself. lol)

Couldnt win any of his book to get his autograph on, so i just snapped with him! (:

Strictly Pancakes is not a big place actually. Just imagine Prinsep Street’s Minds Cafe, but with lesser tables upstairs. LESSER. really. at 6.30pm on a Saturday, it wasn’t as crowded as i thought it would be. But to play safe, i made a reservation.

We ordered 2 savoury pancakes, so we could choose 2 types of butter.  Being the health freak, Danial chose unsalted butter while i got the Garlic+Herb one. There are 2 more types to choose from: the salted and the Rum&Raisin. quite a selection, aye?

Yes our pancakes took awhile to be served.. a good time to catch up with the boy here! (:

The smoked salmon was nice! Danial didnt have an easy time getting used to eating pancakes with savoury food. LOL.

And mine : Beef Me Up

Super love my super thick and puffy pancakes! They’re so soft and fluffy and when i coat them with the Garlic+Herb butter and maple syrup, the combination of sweet and salty (plus the beef and sauteed mushroom)  in the mouth is awesome! (: However, the beef is kinda flaky as though it’s just a huge clump of mince meat. it’s pretty dry and will break off easily from the whole chunk.

2 thumbs up for the Garlic+Herb butter! Additional serving of butter would cost me 50 cents but i didnt care! 1 serving is not enough to coat my pancakes!  yay.. here’s a pic of my pancake coated with lotsa butter and maple syrup! heehee

Too full to think of dessert, really. But i’ll be back again just to try the pancakes under the Sweet section! I wanna try the What a Spread and Banana-Scotched! Here’s a description of both of them from their site:
